Justin Bieber and Mally

Here at Blair Stover, we have been keeping up on the status of Justin Bieber’s monkey, Mally, who he had to leave in Germany after Bieber failed to provide the proper vaccination and import paperwork for the monkey when he arrived for his European tour in March.

At that time, it was reported that Bieber was given four weeks to return to Munich with the proper paperwork to release the monkey from quarantine. Authorities say that Bieber’s representation has reached out to the animal shelter that’s keeping Mally to ask if they know of a proper place to transfer the monkey for permanent care, as it seems that Bieber is no longer interested in keeping the monkey as a pet.

A spokesman for German customs reports the monkey will remain in the shelter until Bieber or Bieber’s attorney contacts customs directly. If Bieber wants to send Mally to a zoo, he will be responsible for the costs involved.

German authorities posted a public notice on July 30 urging Bieber to get in touch with them about an unpaid bill for his former pet. The notice states that Bieber has one week to pay 1,130 euros for the monkey’s care. If the bill goes unpaid, Bieber must pay the bill the next time he enters Germany. It’s reported that Bieber already owes Munich customs 5,000 euros on an unrelated matter.

The Bieber and Mally matter has caught worldwide attention, and has only added to the singer’s seemingly dissolving public image as a less-than-responsible figure.
