Michael J. Fox Prepares for TV Comeback

September 26, 2012

Blair Stover has recently learned that the great Michael J. Fox has decided to make his comeback to television. While many remember his past announcement of Parkinson’s Disease, according to sources, Fox has made a breakthrough with medication that controls his symptoms.

Michael J. Fox was first known by most by starring in the sitcom “Family Ties”.  Fox also starred in the “Back to the Future” franchise on the big screen. Though it has been over ten years since Fox has starred in a leading role, he prepares to star in a new comedy written by Sam Laybourne of “Cougar Town”.

This new comedy will appear on NBC and is scheduled to premiere next year. The show is inspired, in part, by Fox’s battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Fox feels that NBC has been very supportive in the idea. He is eager to work with the people on this project, and he thinks that they are a great group of people.  Michael J. Fox is pleased that NBC is willing to take a chance on those belonging to the project.

Michael J. Fox is currently very excited about his new venture. He feels that he should grasp the opportunity while he is in a good position, as far as medication goes. He goes on to report that as he is feeling well each day, he doesn’t want to waste time passing up new opportunities.  Fox feels it is time for him to move forward with something, in order to get back to doing what he’s doing.

We wish him the best of luck!

E.T. Returning to the Big Screen

September 22, 2012

If you ever saw the original E.T. then this is going to be a huge treat as well as a rush of nostalgia. Steven Spielberg is teaming up with theaters and production crews to release the 80’s blockbuster hit with never seen before footage. Expected date: October 3rd, 2012, on the big screen no less, and Blair Stover has all the details below.

It’s a plot almost everyone knows: A goblin-like extraterrestrial being has lost his way on the earth. He ends up making a friend with the unlikeliest of people- a 10-year boy named Elliott, who hides with him in the nursery and tells him everything that he needs to know about his people and their world. As the stranger suffers terrible homesickness, he decides the boy has to help him find a way back to his home planet.

Spielberg’s original E.T. came at a cost of around $10 million dollars- a rather small production at the time. Yet it remains as one of the most successful films all time, or at the very least one of the most beloved.

E.T. is built on contemporary sci-fi dream images which deal with human values and the great understanding of each other’s problems. This film is like a good bottle of wine – over the years it gets better.

The hero of the film, Elliott, is played by Henry Thomas. It is the best acting performance of any of the child actors of the 80’s in an American film. He is, of course, defiant, slightly stirred, smart, brave and childlike. With his peculiar gait, the high screams surprise, his imitation experiments of human speech and his cat-like purring, E.T. is a perfect role in itself. The extra-terrestrial has become one of the most fascinating fictional characters ever designed and it reminds us why there are films being created today.

Set to come back to the big screen, now is your chance to experience the magic full-sized. Look for an early October release, and be sure to enjoy it while you can!

Joss Whedon Discusses Plans for Avengers Sequel

September 19, 2012

Joss Whedon is certainly one of the main reasons for the huge commercial success of “The Avengers”. In fact, the movie sits at the No. 3 spot on the highest grossing films of all time. Blair Stover has all the details about the blockbuster hit below.

Whedon, who directed other hits like “Serenity” and “Cabin in the Woods”, has decided to write the screenplay for “Avengers 2″. That decision was during the Disney Investors Conference Call along with the confirmation that Whedon was involved in the development of a television series, with a “Marvel theme” with the U.S. network ABC.

Most recently, Whedon was still undecided whether he could handle the job effectively- certainly the negotiation of a final salary increase played a role. “The Avengers” was surely a success as many observers had expected, but with over $1.4 billion dollars at the global box office, no one had expected that outcome.

Quite naturally, the decision for Whedon was not a hard one. After all, before Joss Whedon was the Iron Man director- Jon Favreau was the only filmmaker who could turn more than a film into a franchise.

“Avengers 2″ will hit theaters in three years but the specific date is still open. At the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios unveiled its plans for the second phase of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” which will be in the summer of 2014 (Comic-Con: Marvel Studios’ plans for the coming years). Accordingly, Marvel Studios movies come in the following order: “Iron Man 3″, “Thor: The Dark World”, “Captain America: Winter Soldier” and “Guardians of the Galaxy”. “Ant-Man”, which is from director Edgar Wright is also planned, but was halted due to the busy schedule of the director. There are still no specific plans for a launch date at this time.

Kathy Bates Fighting Breast Cancer for Past Two Months

September 16, 2012

Another movie star is fighting cancer and this time it is TV and film star Kathy Bates. A couple of weeks ago Bates announced on Twitter that she had been “in hiding” due to breast cancer issues over the course of the past couple of months. The Oscar award-winning actress, if you recall, had already had a bout with ovarian cancer earlier this year. Blair Stover has more details below.

“Hey All, sorry for the long silence. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 months ago & am recovering from a double mastectomy”, Bates tweeted just recently.

Even though she has been through a rough time over the course of the past year, she hasn’t lost her sense of humor. In fact she went on to tweet this response: “I don’t miss my breasts as much as I miss Harry’s Law. ;-) Thanks for all the sweet tweets. Y’all kept me going.”

Bates went on to explain the situation further in a formal statement to TODAY. She talked about how it wasn’t any secret that she was already a cancer survivor for nine years and even though she had already been dealing with issues of ovarian cancer again, very few people knew about the breast cancer. Bates decided, after careful consideration, to undergo the double mastectomy procedure. She went on to say that she will not need chemo or radiation.

She seems like the same old Oscar award-winning actress we all love as she stated she is ready to get back to work. We wish her all the best!

Cynthia Nixon Will Play Emily Dickinson in New Biopic

September 13, 2012

Cynthia Nixon has been cast to play the role of Emily Dickinson. Blair Stover has all the details below.

The actress, known for her role as Miranda from “Sex and the City’ will be cast to play the role of Emily Dickinson, in ‘ A Quiet Passion” as the American.

The biopic focuses on Dickinson’s development from a precocious schoolgirl to the tormented recluse she is so well known as being. Dickinson holds true as one of the best poets in American history and that is the reason Terence Davies saw fit to cast her for the role. Of the author’s more than 1000 poems written at that time, only seven were published.

The script for ‘A Quiet Passion’ was also written by Terence Davies (‘The Deep Blue Sea’), and he will also take over as director on this project. ”I wrote the screenplay with Cynthia in my head”, Davies tells the Hollywood Reporter. ”It was the kind of dream cast, which you hope for. I never for a moment thought that my wishes would not come true. Cynthia has such a strong feeling for her work and now she’s our Emily Dickinson. I am very happy.”

Nixon knew immediately that she wanted to embody the famous poet. ” When I read that Terence had written me into the character, he had done so beautifully on paper,” said the 46-year-old. ”Emily Dickinson and Terence’s words fit together somehow and create a heady elixir. When I put the script in my hand, I knew that it is a story in which I simply must share.”

Nixon was last in the U.S. series “World Without End” and “30 Rock”. In May, she and her longtime partner, Christine Marinoni, tied the knot. The two women have been together since 2004.

Channing Tatum Wants to Take on the Role of Director for Magic Mike 2

September 12, 2012

Channing Tatum, with his astral body, brings “Magic Mike” to a theater near you. However, let’s let Blair Stover give you all the HOT details about this steamy movie.

Tatum is currently giving plenty of cinema goers a reason to sigh: The stripper comedy starring Channing and his hot colleague Matthew McConaughey present their toned bodies to the public and for women, the atmosphere goes from okay to great. Therefore, the Hollywood hunk is already speculating about a possible sequel- but this time he might as well celebrate his directorial debut.

Is actor Channing Tatum (32) soon to go behind the camera again? Why not, after all this hype many of his colleagues have already gone before him and been successful. In a possible sequel to “Magic Mike”, he could soon be ready to put on his directorial debut. The Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh had led the directing of the first movie but he has no problem moving aside.

“We want to make ‘Magic Mike 2’ really, but Steven Soderbergh wants to actually retire,” says Channing Tatum about a potential successor of the successful film. And that’s why Mr. Sexy apparently thinks longtime assistant Gregory Jacobs or Tatum should take over as the ‘Chief on set’.

The first ideas for “Magic Mike 2″ seem to already be in full sprouting as Channing Tatum reveals: “We, the team and I talk a lot about it. We already have a storyline and it is to make you really laugh. It could be a kind of road movie!”

Brad Pitt Speaks on Actor Salaries Affected by the Economic Climate

September 10, 2012

You know the economy must be bad if Brad Pitt is speaking out about actors not getting paid enough. Blair Stover has all the juicy details below.

Pitt states that actors can no longer demand multi-million dollar contracts because of the situation the economy has put movie studios in. He went on to say that the industry’s top stars, who could have demanded $10 million or more per picture, cannot do it anymore for various reasons. Producers haven’t got the resources to handle large contracts anymore. In a conversation with BBC Newsbeat, he told them that the high dollar deal days are over. “That arithmetic doesn’t really work right now … that deal’s not flying these days … A lot of the studios have been challenged because of the economic downturn as well so they’ve been betting on bigger, more tent pole (blockbusters) kinds of things.”

However, he did go on to say that the change is a good one concerning the movie industry. It will give other actors the chance to break through and have a chance to make their name. “That opens up a vacuum for really interesting new filmmakers to come in, it’s a really interesting time … You take the roles for the roles and you’ve just got to balance economics like everyone does.”

Forbes magazine named Tom Cruise Hollywood’s highest-paid actor. Cruise raked in an estimated $75 million in 2011 alone. Some actors may not need the extra million or two in earnings it seems but according to statistics, there hasn’t been a drop in pay for actors yet.

Anti Obama Documentary is #2 Grossing Documentary of All Time

September 7, 2012

Blair Stover reports that the #2 Grossing Documentary of All Time is the Anti Obama Documentary, 2016 Obama’s America. The contest between liberals and conservatives in the political genre is heated as this documentary hits the big screen. The documentary has grossed $26.2 million, at recent count and, additionally, It has passed four of five of Micheal Moore’s political documentaries, earning its all-time #2 spot.

Remaining in the first position is Michael Moore’s highly critical assessment of the initial term of President George W. Bush, Fahrenheit 9/11. It has earned $119.1 million, though speculation suggests that 2016  Obama’s America will reach half of what that documentary did.

Without adjusted inflation or ticket prices, however, 2016 Obama’s America has already made more money than Sicko (2007), which grossed $24.5, Along with this, Moore’s Oscar-winning “ Bowling For Columbine” (2002) made $21.5 million. And “Capital ism: A Love Story” (2009) made $14.3. As of right now, 2016 Obama’s America has already brought in more money these.

Much debate occurred when Moore released “Fahrenheit 9/11” right before the election in 2004. “Guggenheim’s An Inconvenient Truth” was released in 2006 and became the #1 grossing conservative political documentary of all time, even passing , “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed”, which raised $7.7 million.

States where presidential candidates are hitting the hardest during election campaining (Arizona, Illinois, Georgia, Virginia, Coloragel, Ohio)  have proven the documentary a hot topic. The documentary, “The Roots Of Obama’s Rage” is based on the best-selling book that the conservative author Dinesh D’Souza wrote in 2010. This documentary began in only one theater and has now expanded to more than 1.000 locations.
